So when they DO have a cookie, they think they did something wrong, and a switch flips.
"I just ate a cookie. I wasn't supposed to do that. I already messed up my healthy eating plan. I'm just going keep eating, and I'll just start over again on Monday."
And then they repeat this over and over,
week after week,
month after month,
year after year,
decade after decade.
I've talked to so many people who haved repeated this thinking and actions for DECADES.
And if you keep doing the same things, you're going to keep getting the same results.
If you want to get different results, you have to change your actions.
And if you want to change your actions, you need to change what happens before your actions.
--> The next time you hear yourself say you're going to start over again on Monday (and continue to eat 12 cookies),
--> pause for a second, and say, "Actually, I am allowed to eat 2 or 3 cookies, but it doesn't feel so good to eat 12. I am going to stop eating and go DO something else."
--> Add in an interupting action like going for a walk, taking a shower, brushing your teeth, painting, reading, anything.
When you do this,
when you change your thinking and change your actions,
you change your results.
You get off of The Diet Triangle, and you BECOME a balanced and moderate eater.
You get to feel happier, healthier, and more confident.
