When you don't want to do the thing...
Do a small version of the thing.
When you don't want to go for a 30-minute run,
go for a 3-minute walk.
When you don't want to do your physical therapy exercises,
do 1 minute of your physical therapy exercises.
When you don't want to eat a healthy breakfast,
grab a banana with your breakfast sandwich.
When you don't want to eat a healthy lunch,
grab a side salad with your pizza.
Doing the small version of the thing helps you keep the habit. It acknowledges that you're not always going to be able to do the thing perfectly, but it helps you still show up on the days you don't want to.
You'll build consistency this way. You'll make progress this way. You'll stop with the all-or-nothing mindset. You'll move yourself forward and be in a different place by doing the small version of the thing.
